Copyright Law - Protect your artistic expression
The US Copyright Act protects original works of authorship that are fixed in tangible form. Works of authorship include: literary works; musical works; dramatic works; pantomimes and choreographic works; pictorial, graphic, and sculptural works; motion pictures and other audiovisual works; sound recordings; and architectural works.

The owner of copyright has exclusive rights, which include: the right to reproduce, to prepare derivative works, to distribute copies, to publicly perform, and to publicly display the work.

Although copyright exists at the moment of creation, registering works as early as possible with the Library of Congress through the U.S. Copyright Office is important because registration is a legal prerequisite to filing a copyright infringement suit in Federal Court and for the recovery of certain remedies under the Copyright Act.

LanCarte Law understands the value that owners of copyright works hold. We are dedicated to helping our clients register and protect those works against infringement.
